Three popular epoxy finishes, compared — so you pick the one that fits your space and budget.
Once you've decided to coat your floor, the fun question is what it should look like. The three most common finishes — flake, metallic, and solid color — all use the same durable resin systems underneath; the difference is the look, the grip, and the cost.
Vinyl flakes broadcast into the base coat give a speckled, terrazzo-like look with built-in slip resistance. It hides dust and minor imperfections, comes in dozens of color blends, and is the most popular residential choice. Great all-rounder for a garage floor.
Metallic pigments are swirled into a clear coat to create a glossy, three-dimensional, marbled look — think lava, ocean, or pearl effects. It's the showpiece option for luxury garages, showrooms, and living spaces. Stunning, slightly more expensive, and a bit smoother underfoot. See metallic epoxy floors.
A clean, single-color finish (often light gray or tan) for a simple, budget-friendly upgrade. It shows dust and tire marks a little more than flake, but still beats bare or DIY-kit concrete on durability and cleanability.
Whatever finish you choose, durability comes from the prep and the polyaspartic topcoat — not the color. We'll bring samples to your free quote so you can see them in your own light.
